Your Weather this Week
This week had everyone watching Arkansas to Tennessee to Ohio for the severe weather threat that developed last night. If you were in Tennessee you certainly were aware.
This week we expect wet weather across most of the eastern United States as a stationary front develops midweek. While in the west, your week starts wet and ends dry - Enjoy!

Dark ‘n’ Stormy
The perfect cocktail for this week …
As we enter a new month, end of the quarter and have our sights set on summer, this classic cocktail might be just what we need.
Trademarked by the Gosling’s (technically to be called a Dark n Stormy it must contain the Gosling’s Black Seal Rum). This drink originated in Bermuda after World War 1. The combination of ginger beer and dark rum floated on top, make it look like the skies we are going to have this week! Although at $25 there’s nothing stormy about the price!
Original Version
Ingredients:
2 oz Gosling’s Black Seal Rum (essential for the official version)
4–6 oz ginger beer (spicy and robust is best)
½ oz fresh lime juice (optional, but recommended)
Lime wedge or wheel, for garnish
Mocktail Version - Calm and Cloudy
Ingredients:
4–6 oz high-quality ginger beer (the spicier the better)
½ oz fresh lime juice
½ oz blackstrap molasses (to echo the rum’s deep notes) or a splash of spiced black tea
Lime wedge or candied ginger for garnish

Sports-Cast
All Eyes on San Antonio
This weekend will be a busy one for San Antonio. Not only will the NCAA Mens Final Four be held on Saturday April 5th and Finals on Monday April 7th, BUT…
The Valero Texas Open PGA tour event will be held Thursday April 3 to Sunday April 6th at the San Antonio Oaks course.
It looks like a breezy and wet weekend in San Antonio too. How will this affect the last exemption for the Masters, the following weekend?
This course has also been known for the wind! We will see it playing longer and more difficult than not.

By the way, if you’re a Tommy Fleetwood fan, think he has what it takes, in these conditions, on this course? You could win. Good Luck!

Garden Forecast
It’s not too late to plant this year! In fact, you may be right on time. Take a look at this “Avg. Last Frost Date” map. For most of the country, this week is going to put you in the “safe” zone! If you haven’t started already, you can start planting inside as well, if you’re worried about it this year. Statistically though, this is your month!

Depending on your Hardiness Zone (learn more here) can help you determine which plants and vegetables might thrive best. Furthermore, gardeners should understand other factors contribute to the success or failure of plants. Wind, soil type, soil moisture, humidity, pollution, snow, and winter sunshine can greatly affect the survival of plants.
• Light: To thrive, plants need to be planted where they will receive the proper amount of light. For example, plants that require partial shade that are at the limits of hardiness in your area might be injured by too much sun during the winter because it might cause rapid changes in the plant’s internal temperature.
• Soil moisture: Plants have different requirements for soil moisture, and this might vary seasonally. Plants that might otherwise be hardy in your zone might be injured if soil moisture is too dry in late autumn, and they enter dormancy while suffering moisture stress.
• Temperature: Plants grow best within a range of optimal temperatures, both cold and hot. That range may be wide for some varieties and species but narrow for others.
• Duration of exposure to cold: Many plants that can survive a short period of exposure to cold may not tolerate longer periods of cold weather.
• Humidity: High relative humidity limits cold damage by reducing moisture loss from leaves, branches, and buds. Cold injury can be more severe if the humidity is low, especially for evergreens.

Game the Weather
How good are you at matching Weather and Geography?
Play our Weather Game to earn points. Don’t worry there are hints along the way. You will have to use all your skill on geography, time zones, weather, and climate to guess. Good Luck!
An extra hint today to get you started….This city has a straight that runs through it called the Bosphorus.

Lightning Cap
A quick thought or idea. Might be useless. Might be brilliant. You decide!
How about a cocktail called “Last Frost” to celebrate April and most of the country’s avg. last frost date. Crisp but smokey and alive with brightness!
1.5 oz mezcal (smoky and earthy, a sign the frost has lifted)
¾ oz lemon juice (bright and clean like morning light)
½ oz honey-rosemary syrup (herbal warmth )
1 oz fresh cucumber juice (crisp, cooling, garden-fresh)
2 basil leaves, gently torn (adds green depth without overpowering)
Mocktail Version - “First Leaf”
1 oz cucumber juice
¾ oz lemon juice
½ oz honey-rosemary syrup
2 basil leaves
Optional: A splash of smoky lapsang tea or a dash of liquid smoke
Top with sparkling water or cucumber tonic
What are your thoughts? Should we make this a thing?

Barometric Beats
Two blues songs in two weeks….In all seriousness, we are sending positive vibes down to those affected by the floods in south Texas, where in some cases they got a year’s worth of rain in a few hours.
