Your Weather this Week

This past weekend made for a great one to stay in for most of the country as Rain and Snow moved through. In the south however, we enjoyed true spring weather.

The start of this week looks wet in the east, clearing out after today, and then a stretch of dry pleasant weather, while we wait for another system to sweep through towards the end of this next week!

Game the Weather

How good are you at matching Weather and Geography?

Play our Weather Game to earn points. Don’t worry there are hints along the way. You will have to use all your skill on geography, time zones, weather, and climate to guess. Good Luck!

An extra hint today to get you started….It’s the home of a type of bird!

March Madness

And we aren’t talking about all these wildfires and severe weather outbreak last week. March Madness Basketball is back and it’s all the conversation take over until April 7th. The classic weather small talk can take a break for now. Hows your bracket doing?

Forecasting ahead, we predict cloudy with a chance of rain for the Finals in San Antonio on April 5th - 7th.

Are you traveling to the games? If you are Auburn, Michigan, Michigan St, Ole Miss playing in Atlanta this week. Expect the slight chance for a rain.

The Over/Undercast

Place your bets on the Weather? Kalshi is a site that facilitates making wagers on the weather. Do you have what it takes to forecast temperature, number of tornados this month, or rain this month in NYC?

There are several interesting plays to be made. We like the tornados this month. The average number of tornados for March since 1999 is 95. This March we’ve had 224. With the latest outlook, should we take the under on 250 for March?

Is this a chance to double your money?

Lightning Cap

Lightning Cap is a flash of brilliance — a quick, sharp insight that strikes like lightning and sticks. Take this idea and run with it!

What about a restaurant that changes their menu based on the weather? We see this most common with seasonal menus but what about slight modifications based on the weather.

For instance, take your weather this week. 75 deg and mild. Spring energy is all around. Grilled Mushroom & Herb Rice Biryani (see recipe here) would be a nice light meal. However, on a 45 deg day, they might use the same ingredients to serve a mushroom risotto to give a hearty meal to warm up (see recipe here).

What are your thoughts?

Sumatra Storms In

You’ve probably seen Sumatra in the coffee aisle. Did you ever wonder why this was a type of coffee unto itself? It’s because of the rain. Located in Indonesia (just south of Thailand). Sumatra has notoriously unpredictable weather and their wet hulled method makes this style not only possible but tasty!

If you’re interested in trying coffee from this region, Starbucks makes a bag but something more interesting is one from Equator Coffees

Barometric Beats

For the start of the week with some slow storms today for much of the East. The solo at the beginning warms up to the big band sound by the “weeks end” - Enjoy!
